Common Names:
Gray snapper, grays, mangrove snapper.
Identifying Characteristics:
10 dorsal spines, 14 dorsal rays, and 8 anal rays. Grayish above, and paler below with a reddish tinge on the sides. Dorsal and caudal fins grayish. Pectoral and pelvic with anal fish are reddish. Eyes are red.
Range and Locations:
Middle Atlantic and Gulf Coast of US, Brazil. Very common in Southern Florida and Carribean.
Stats:
Seldom reaches 10 pounds.
Market Forms:

Very good eating fish. Good for pan frying. Sold whole and in fillets, fresh and frozen.

Closing Remarks:
