Common Names:
Dolphin fish, Dorado, Dolphin, Mahi Mahi.
Identifying Characteristics:
Slender body. Blunt, flat heads signify the males. Brilliantly colored. When seen in the water, irredescant colors of blues, greens and yellows; almost appear to be neon or electric in colors. Deeply forked tail is typically yellow. Typically spotted with blue to green to black all over body.
Range and Locations:
In all tropical and subtropical waters. Commonly orientated to floating debris such as weed lines, kelp patties and floating objects.
Stats:
Up to 85 lbs. Extremely fast growing fish. Short lived.
Market Forms:

Whole fresh, fresh fillets, frozen fillets. Food value is excellent eating. One of the most sport fishes around its ranges. Often seen leaping.
